Ready to Claim Your Throne? As CEO & Founder, Robb likes nothing more than seeing his team invent, grow and succeed. His love for blending music, sound, action and images in this art called moving pictures is why he founded Funnelbox over twelve years ago. He finds great satisfaction in the work... even more if it airs during the Super Bowl.
James is all about the details- coordinating vision, time and budgets to create superior work. James' passion is to share moving, untold stories- but not just his client's tales. His own quirky documentaries tackle a wide range of subjects, from the inventor of "Magic Fingers" (the genius behind coin-operated vibrating beds), to producing music videos starring his (adorable!) daughter, Beatrix.
Tim is responsible for whipping our books into shape, a task he does with ease having countless years of financial consulting experience in his portfolio. At home, Tim likes to soak in the scenic views from his back porch, which happens to be on the side of a mountain [one of the perks of living in Portland]. With that kind of scenery, we can see why he only makes it into the office twice a week.
Julius is Technical Director of Funnelbox, keeping our machines happy and healthy [and spending long nights with them when they aren't]. An accomplished effects artist, he knows how to re-system a computer for best results and once turned a 30-jointed invasive crustacean into General Mittencrab. With his love of graphics, he gets choked up watching the beautiful, tactile garbage dumps of WALL-E.
Despite a youth spent treading the boards of Portland stages, Ken has turned out alright. With technical skill in stage-craft, a smattering of film studies and a good log of commercial and feature production work, his contribution to the Funnelbox team takes many forms. These days, he works hard to increase our web presence [@Funnelbox on Twitter!] and help open up new avenues of communication.
Greg is focused on maintaining, improving and building relationships with our business partners. His passion is exploring new business opportunities for Funnelbox and ensuring a potential partnership is the “right fit” for all involved. When out of the office, it's a safe bet he's with friends and family enjoying movies and quality Hi-Fi [which to HIM is CD based 2-channel stereo].
Steve's passion for intricate, layered and indiscernible tweaks that make an edit sing often keep him up late. "When is it done, Steve?" "When you can't take your eyes off it." Steve is equally as passionate about keeping Oregon City parking enforcement officials busy: he parks his motorcycle illegally every chance he gets.
Matt comes from the tundra of Alaska, but decided early on to migrate to Montana, where he first fell in love with film. When he's not big game hunting or bumping Hip-Hop, Matt is cutting Funnelbox masterpieces. Guy Ritchie fan, co-creator of the Harry Potter Minute, and the owner of a chocolate lab named Duncan, Matt has an incredible knack for turning hours of raw footage into smooth, seamless visuals.
Nick MAY just have a fondness for cats and cat-related internet videos. That deficiency, however, doesn't stop him from being a top-notch Colorist [that means making magic, people]. Nick's proficiency with DaVinci is supplemented by awesome powers in every program we use in the shop, making him a go-to-expert on practically any problem [just don't interrupt his cat videos].
Known affectionately as 'Scooter' [though he's been known to outride racing motorcycles on the track], Sean takes a holistic approach to design. Every part of the process receives his greatest attention and he takes the full weight of the success or failure of a piece on his own shoulders. That's not to say he's all work; it's just that it makes sense he races scooters to blow off steam...
Bryan was a great find. With years of onset production experience and time spent at Gearhead Grip + Electric, he knows his way around every bit of equipment we own [and is bugging Robb and Tim for a budget to purchase even BETTER stuff]! His new toys will get here eventually; in the meantime, Bryan makes sure we always have a ship-shape truck when we roll out for a shoot.
After traipsing around Europe for several months, Jared has returned to Funnelbox to help Bryan tackle our mountain of gear while refining his knowledge of all things camera related. His mind is like a sponge [and his beard's like one, too!] and we're grateful to be able to wring it out on occasion. Outside the Funnelbox, Jared may be found playing in garden boxes, apple boxes, sand boxes...
Aaron's history is shrouded in mystery, though we did learn enough about his time in Tennessee to christen him 'Memphis'. The epitome of a Jack-of-All-Trades, Aaron tames technical terrors with tenacity and tact. His inner calm may come from his black belt in Karate, spending time with his beautiful Husky or hours tearing up the track in Mario Kart 64. Oh, he also has two degrees in some stuff....
It's hard to get this half of the VanSooy duo down; mostly because he's freakishly tall. In addition to holding the reins of our Uberstock division and cranking out great stock footage, Mike often assists our poor, overworked producers on projects requiring a lot of people. His talent pool is deep as some Hollywood agents, and he often comes through at the last minute with just the right actor.
Yes, they really are identical twins. But we've yet to catch them swapping roles at the office [probably because Sean knows he's better looking and could never be mistaken for Mike]. A newish addition to the team, Sean is quick to learn the ropes on any needed assignment and lends a hand with a smile. Perhaps his best attribute, though, is keeping Mike in line at their adjoining desks.
